Spammer of '69
We've run out of all the old spam threads I created which were made from poems, so now we are moving on to songs. I googled "top 100 Songs of all
time" and our new series of spam threads will be made from the songs on that list. Coming in at #88 is Summer of '69 by Bryan Adams, which I would
put on my Top 100 songs of all time.
| Quote: | I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played 'til my fingers bled
It was summer of '69
Me and some guys from school
Had a Band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit and Jody got married
I shualda known we'd never get far
Oh when I lock back now
That was seemes to last forever
And if I had the choice
Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life
(CHORUS)
Ain't no use in complainin'
When you got a job to do
Spent my evenin's down at the drive in
And that's when I met you
Standin on a mama's porch
You told me that you'd wait forever
Oh and when you held my hand
I knew that it was no or never
Those were the best days of my life
(Chorus) Back in Summer of '69
Man we were killin' time
We were young and restless
We needed to unwind
I guess nothin' can last forever, no
And now the times are changin'
Look at everything that's come and gone
Somethimes when I play that old six-string
I think about ya wonder what went wrong
Standin' on a mama's porch
You told me it would last forever
Oh the way you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life
(Chorus) Back in summer of '69 |

Nope, I noticed that we were running up the tally in the last spam thread I had pre-created so I scurried around to get a new series going. Next
series is movie titles I guess. I kind of wondered if I should even use this title for a spam thread because obviously it's not a great title for the
dirty-minded.

You only had two and a half pages to go!
Luna, there's no way the new job can be worst than the last, but I know how you feel about starting a new job. Not knowing what will be expected of
you is a bit nerve-wracking.

And I still have about two and a half pages left to go. Most of the edits my mentor gave me most recently were changing out words. And I just found
that I need to rework my graphs, because he wanted me to change "4" and "A" to "4-year-olds" and "Adults." Makes sense, but that's 6 figures
to adjust, 12 data points, transferring, resizing. Still so much easier than doing it by hand, though, I'm sure.
Will be getting up early tomorrow to work more, because he wants to get everything 3 hours before I show up in his office, which means I need to be
done by 11. In a week I can stop working on this, and work on the power point for my defense, right?

I'm currently writing code to make little pixellated soccer players run around a little pixellated field.

Resist the urge, Mad-Eye!
Actually, it's my program and two other people's, too. And I'm only writing the code for one player, as well as a general method (that happens to
be top-secret) for use by any player.

I will resist the urge! I've only written one game in my life and it was this...supposed to be epic game about Hercules and Prometheus but it
actually is very sad...

We're not actually writing the game, just the AI. The prof wrote the actual game engine.
I made SimCity 4 work in Linux. The only thing not working is sound (big surprise - I've been fighting sound problems on here since day one... I
don't think my sound card likes Linux). Sans that, though... it works WAY BETTER than it ever has in Winblows.

Did you go on a Linux forum and ask anyone about it? The one thing I like about Linux is that a lot of the people who use Linux are REALLY good at
programming. They may be able to help you work something out.

Nice roomy thread here. Good luck Monday, Luna.... and with your thesis skratch. Did I miss something though.... well I'm sure I missed a lot. But
what is the thesis for? Are you in a master's program already? If you are I've forgotten it. sorry.
I'm doing my usual.

I'm writing a senior thesis. I've only been working on the actual writing part since ... oh, toward the end of the fall semester? It's a requirement for both the University Honors Program and the Speech,
Language, and Hearing Sciences Honors Program. Take a wild guess as to who is in both of those?
Padfoot, have you learned from your brother what there is to see/do in between Montana and Indiana?

She probably forgot about it. You could go into Arizona and check out the Painted Desert! That'll put you way out of your way though. You could stop
in Denver, that would be cool, then St. Louis. You could also venture up to Chicago before hitting Indiana. Pizza in Chicago is not to be missed.

But I'm planning on traveling north up the Pacific Coast Highway. Arizona, Denver, and St. Louis would be out of my way. But I could definitely stop
on Chicago. That would be right along one of the main interstate highways I could take from MT to IN.

Well you'll be going through S Dakota so there are things like Rushmore and Black Hills and Badlands and Crazy Horse memorial, then I guess you could
do the Mall of America in Minnesota. In Wisconsin--Madison, there's the House on the Rock which you would probably enjoy. But really there's not
much to do it seems when you're going from Montana to Indiana.
