U.S. Version of HPDH to be 784 pages!
Scholastic has announced today that DH will be 784 pages in the U.S.A. And it will be printed on forest friendly paper.
"All 12 million copies of the U.S. edition of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be printed on paper that contains a minimum of 30% post-consumer waste (pcw) fiber. Moreover, 65% of the 16,700 tons of paper used in the U.S. first printing will be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the global standard-setter for responsible forest management. This historic commitment is the largest purchase of FSC certified paper to be used in the printing of a single book title. The vast amount of paper needed to print 12 million copies of the 784-page Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows makes the decision by Scholastic to invest in environmentally preferable paper a significant step in the company’s ongoing commitment to responsible environmental stewardship."
See it on Scholastics Web Site. We also have this press release from Scholastic. Thanks to Shadow_of_Illusion.

"The release
of the final Harry Potter book is possibly the most anticipated book
release in history. This July, 500 adults from around the globe will
gather in London for a four-day celebration of this historic event.
The conference will take place at the University of Westminster in
central London, and will include papers on subjects as diverse as
philosophy and the science of magic in the Harry Potter series, as well
as workshops on art, writing and costuming.
On Friday July 20th, the University will open overnight for an
unprecedented all-night reading party. Books will be delivered directly
to the venue and distributed as soon as the clock strikes midnight.
Groups of Harry Potter fans will then read through the night to learn
Harry's final fate.
Orders for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows are being taken now
at www.sectus.org, but hurry, because there is only a limited number
available.

Our Emma, A Budding Conservationist?
Emma Watson has donated items to The Wild Trout Trust Charity Auction. It's an organization commited to improving the habitat of the Brown Trout which is apparently the only native trout Britain has. It's good to see stars grow up and see there are important issues around them that they can help with. You can see auction items if you go here. And you can read about the trust on The Wild Trout Trust site.
This particular reviewer doesn't like JKRs writing style. He's only read CoS all the way through and he thinks PoA was the first of the movies that was well done. He did think GoF the movie was better than PoA which is his only saving grace. So who knows if we can really take his word for how the movie is. It frightens me that he was able to see it before editing was done and he suggested that the 2' 30" film could be and should be shorter. I hope WB didn't listen to him. This is part of his conclusion.
So if you liked the last two films style, you will like this.
This film is not much different from the last entries in the series. I
really appreciated the depth of Harry’s character in this, they
actually give Harry something to do and he deals with some interesting
things in a more real and rounded way. The character of Harry Potter is
actually interesting in this film which makes up for some of the few
mistakes in the film. Nothing was handled poorly in the film with the
exception of Hagrid’s brother and possibly Umbridge’s scenes. I know
you are not supposed to like her, but my god by ½ way through the film
I dreaded seeing her on screen.
Funny. I think that's how we're supposed to feel about Umbridge. It adds to our outrage towards her. So I say Well done WB! You can see the rest of the review on Ain't It Cool News.
